Hey guys I'm new to the forum and to fixing quads in general. Me and my brothers have an 04' Blaster thats been sitting for a long time and we finally said F it lets fix it ourselves. So we rolled it out of the garage and noticed that it will move in neutral, but if we have it in any other gear it won't roll with the clutch engaged, it locks up. Any ideas why this may be and the best way to correct this issue so that it will be ready to go once we finish the rebuild on our top end. Thanks for any help you can provide.

prolly just needs to be warmed up real good with new oil in it

yeah they will do that sometimes. if there is some good oil in there start it up in neutral and warm it a lil bit. then pull in the clutch and shift to first. 1 of 2 things will happen. it will either shift in like normal, or it will jump forward and stall. if it jumps forward and stalls that is usually enough to unstick ur clutch plates

sounds like the clutch plates might be a bit dry and stuck together. change the trans oil, start it up and work the clutch some. once you get the oil flowing to the clutch plates you will probably be ok.

Oh nice I hope that's all it is thanks. Now we just have to wait on the top and and see if it starts.

yup, if its been sitting, a lot of times the clutch will stick.

fresh oil, let it run, and work the clutch in neutral, then shift it. should come back for you
