Hello All,

I am a noob to atvs/ motorcycles yada yada yada ( I do own a yamaha jet boat but that runs great) I have an issue that is driving me nuts. I have rebuilt everything ( frame off resto) and eliminated the tors. I had the bike running but with issues. Sometimes I got it to run backwards, backfire, not run at all and now its kicking back when i try to start it. I broke 2 clutch baskets primary gears and replace too many plugs that I cant count that high. I did have the the blaster running ok once where it ran like a raped ape. My wooddruff key is not sheared and my psi is about 125 and the carb is getting gas without flooding. I am leaning towards a stator. Can anyone tell me what the symptoms of a bad stator /magneto. Any thoughts?

sounds like it's gotta by timing man.
doubtful that it's a bad stator, more likely the stator is not installed correctly or the flywheel....
could also be a bad kick starter assy....

Thanks for answering. The stator is not adjustable so how would you adjust the timing. There are 3 seperate components on the stator including a pick up. How can I check this. Can ohm or resistance be measured on each of the components on the stator?

Thanks
Chuck

I don't even know if its possible to install this way, But could the stator be upside down like being 180* out of time? Maybe a cracked magnet in the rotor? This is odd man, its almost always the woodruff key that causes this they shear all the time on blasters. Normally right after you have the rotor off is when they go. I hate to say check the woodruff cause I know you said yours is not sheared. But there really isn't anything else I can think of that has a good chance of causing this. But being that you knew to check the woodruff I assume you know what youre doing. I hope you figure it out cause you have me stumped

If you know someone with a Blaster that uses the same cdi, see if you can swap it into yours to try. This is just a guess but because of the things you've decribed so far I'd give that a try.

I actually do have a spare cdi unit. I will also water down the harness to the necessites. SPARK :) Can someone send me a wiring diagram. i cant find my 5 dollar blaster cd from ebay *lol*

Thanks

ok, I replaced the stator /magneto and flywheel and disconnected all connections and sprayed electronics cleaner on all connections and all works fine.It will even start up on the first few tries. it's time to investigate why my clutch is not shifting. I left the shear key off of the shift cam assy. Thanks for the replies.
