Supposed to be black?

When taking my carb out i pulled the throttle valve out and noticed this odd looking blackness, Has any one seen this before?
Normal or not? Thanx for the help

i belive that is just the silver coloring weraing off, my slide on my stock carb looked similiar to that.

Was gettin kinda worried for a moment, already blew my wad
on a new crank and piston.
