Im changing out my old rear disc brakes and installing new ones. Im tryig to push the caliper in wit ha C clamp as much as I can but the new brakes just wont fit. The yare too tight to put back on the disc.
the stock 88-02 cable brake caliper does not just push in.
it is mechanical, and will need opened up, remove the white plastic disc, (supposedly a self adjuster, that never works)
insert a flat screwdriver and turn the worm bolt to loosen the pads, install caliper onto disc,
re-install and turn the white disc until the pads drag the disc.
to compress 03+ or any hydro caliper, it is best to remove the rezzie lid, to allow the excess brake fluid a place to escape while compressing the caliper pistons
It's an 03-06. I looked at his carbon fiber wrap post . I use channel locks to get the piston all the way in. Then once ou get
The pads in place take a flathead screwdriver and LIGHTLY pry open the pads. This should open them enough to get them over the disk.
Man I almost threw my back out trying to tighten that c-clamp and it seems like its pushed all the way in. I ended up removing the worst brake pad and keeping the good one and added a new one. So 1 brake pasd is slightly used the other is new, it workes, just took my baby out for a spin wheew this thing rips, First time riding it. I opened it up to about 45mph Got a little chicken to go any higher lol, Next time Ill hit 50-60. BTW I used a speed app on my phone and GPS signal, works great heres a pic. Like how it matches with the Orange .
