so i have stripped my blaster down to the frame while awaiting my top end parts. I plan to paint the frame, and repaint my plastics the rite way.
Problem is that the previous owner way back when decided it a GREAT idea to rattle can it all this ugly ass blue. Now typically i would just take some mineral spirits and scrub it all off, but that didn't work. SO any idea's short of a weeks worth of sanding,or buying new plastics ?
And to keep this all in one thread, i am thinking about doing my frame a metal flake blue, and my plastics gloss and flat black mix . Or Maybe a "hammered" silver frame with Metal flake blue plastics.
I am leaning toward the blue frame black plastics myself but would like ya'lls opinions.

Blue frame with black plastics would be sweet.... If the previous owner's paint job on the plastics is holding up, maybe just leave it on. Prime it, paint it your color, and then clear coat it...

ya tht would be cool, blue frame black plastics. im kinda against painting plastics just because the paints ruined as soon as you roll, or bend or crease a fender... but good prep will help that, just take your time.

If you want to completely strip the frame, get some aircraft stripper at your local auto store, or go to home depot or something and get some paint stripper (aircraft stripper works better) If you dont want to do that, get some sandpaper, sand out the chips on the frame, and scuff up the entire frame (take your time) then just prime it, paint it, clear it.

Well, the P/O painted it about 10 thousand times. Some has hung on really well, and some has flaked off. I plan on stripping it down as far as possible, then prepping it and doing it the wright way. I hope it will hold up a while at least until i can afford new plastic.

I don't really know if it fits this category, but I lengthened my steering stem tonight. Now it seems like it will be a little more comfy to ride with the bars up about 2" higher.
Hopefully tomaro i can get my frame painted....Also my top end parts should be in tomaro as well.
You guys think i should start some sort of build thread in the tear down section ? I have stripped the frame, started sanding/prepping for primer/paint, rebuilding my top end, changing my pipe, lengthened my steering stem,i am gunna stretch my swinger maybe in the next few days,(while paint dries) then i am gunna try and make my sh*tty stock steel wheels look half way decent. I am also in the process of stripping, prepping, and painting my plastics.

teardown/build up thread always help. Esp. with lots of pics. So start snappin some flicks and postin up.

Ok, i will try to get some pics in the daylight tomaro.
I will warn it's not near like some of the builds i have seen on here.

I am on a budget of about NONE rite now,so i have to paint what i got and save money for new plastic while i'm at college for when i get back. Ideally i would NOT paint my plastic but if it makes a 60 MPH paint job i am satisfied.

when i got my blaster the guy painted the whole thing black because the plastics were purple. i took some paint stripper and did light coats on the plastic. u gotta be careful though cause some stripper will melt plastic. i did the same to my frame and put a wire wheel in a handheld grinder took as much off as i could get to. then i took 220 grit sand paper and sanded my whole frame down. i dont recomend painting plastic. theres a special way to paint it. sanding blasting it and puting special crap on it. youd save money just buying new plastic.

using paint striper is easy but it can mess you up in the long run we have done cars thea have been striped with that stuff and it never realy neutralizies completly and over time it will cause metal to rust from the inside out. your best and safest bet is to get to sanding, especialy on the plastic dont put that stuff on it just take the time and sand.
