ok so i found out that the leak in my engine is not a busted seal but actually a hair-line crack....my dad said theres this stuff i can get called STP or something that is suppose to seal cracks or something...i was just wondering if itll screw the engine or work ? i just want to be able to run it so i can rebuild it during the winter and weld the crack....also should i weld the crack ?? its only a hairline crack :-/:-/:-/:D

STP is oil treatment and they make some other products but not for what you are looking to do.The only thing that may hold you over is some jb weld.Just clean the surface really well and it will work very good, atleast to keep you motoring.Once it is apart you can weld it depending on where it is,may be cheaper to get a new case side on the fleabay.

Yup, Stone Temple Pilots. haha j/k. On a more serious note, I heard that JB Weld should not be used where it will be constantly exposed to heat. Such as exhaust repairs for example, but I would assume that would go for motors as well. Any thoughts on this?

Just weld it..why double your work when the JB weld isnt gonna hold. Do it right the 1st time or not at all..ya know. With a weld you know it will hold and it will be a STRONG hold.

i know i just wanted to try this stuff before i have to take the engine out of my banshee and get someone the weld it...

jb weld is the best ever on engine cases there is a crack on mine where the chain must have rubbed but oil leaked out a bit i just drained the oil and put it on rock hard 2 years now without changing it.. only reason i didnt weld it is because i noticed it after i put the motor back in the frame.. but stuff works great we held a buddies raptor 700 radiator together that was leaking coolant made it the 20 miles back to my house 5 stars for the stuff
