surely some of you guys have gone to aftermarket skids and have some stock swinger skids layin around ????

pm me what ya have and price, gotta be straight and unmolested.......
not cut into from the chain or disc

yep i still need them < yeah plural, i may take 4 or 5 if i find them

how many damn bikes are you runnin these days????
you need to start fabbing up some kinda better skidplate man, you get into too many fights with the rocks down there on awk mountain!lol

i'm running just 2 bikes, mine and my sons, and they've both gone thru skids already,
mine 2 and joeys 1, aftermarket aluminum ones don't stand a chance
and stockers sometimes can last a few rides
but your correct, i will be working on a 1/4" steel one this week for mine, and will prolly just keep usin stockers on my sons for as little as it gets ridden ????

just today i cut 2 up and used 1 good side from each just to get me by till i get more or make the awk mountain version !!!!!!

heres a little sample of a "rock feild" run
all the bouncin around the bike is doing is football/basketball sized rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well when you get the design for a serious one all set to go i may have to get one. my trails are the same kind of stuff.
and as for skids all i got is a aluminum one, wasnt thick enough.
maybe you should try one of these things from blingstar????
.:blingstar:.
they have them for the yfz450 but not the blaster. think it would hold up to your tests???

i thought of you the otherday. On this subject. I think you should make a steel one. With the exact same design as a aluminum one i think it wouldnd be hard at all. if you dont have a welder talk to stroked tater

@ nick...........the link just took me to the bling mainsite, but i looked at whats avaiable for the 450 and if your talkin the individual sprocket and disc gaurds....
they may hold up but not worth findin out for that loot !!!!!

and 95...........thats exactly what i'll be doin, too bad the aluminum one i got from 305 is bent in half from about 4 rides, i had it in my had today lookin at it, i'll get a pic tomorrow
so i'll just do the cardboard and tape like every other bracket/part i make, so there will be a pattern when i'm done

Yeah honestly i dont think it will be to hard i mean all you really need is a grinder and welder and thats it. the welds dont even have to be perty its on the bottom of the bike. lol just some paint or pc and your good

i'll also be using the press to bend the main plate at the 3 places the A/M ones are bent
and have you seen my welds that you comment " they don't have to be good " hahahahaaaaaa

haha it would be easyier to bend it but in my opinon almost as strong to weld if you dont have one. i dought if its out of the right thickness of material it shouldnt ever brack just bounce of things

hahaha u can weld and weld but without reinforcing the mounting holes that nice skidplate u just spent hours on is gonna get ripped off anyways.. :o :o. take a look at what happened to mine within a few hours of being on the mountain last year.. lol thats 1/4" steel plates welded on it but the whole thing got bent :( lol

yep........i just had a fairly good shape one fail just like that at the rear mount
so my new one will be completely new, not a reinforced stocker
solid one piece floor plate with 1/4" plate rails that will bolt thru onto the swinger, < which is kens T-Rock swinger, made from 1/4" also, so i think the weak link on this one will be the bolts ????

we shall see, the whole challenge of my builds have been to withstand the mountain, sad but true, it's where i have to ride, and changing my riding style won't be any fun, so stronger i must build !!!!!!!

i'm thinking sumthin very similar to this except 1/4" steel ????

i think that if you address the mounting tabs it should hold up, i liek the sounds of what u are planning. i thought that plate was gonna be with me for life but newp lol :o :D

yeah those blingstar items are definately name brand reflecting on the price. but the weakpoint in the skids is as mentioned...the mounting bolts. maybe when you get a string enough skid you should weld it directly to the swinger.
i had sent an email to Ken about seeing if he could reproduce a sprocket hub guard similar to the blingstar one but i dont think i got the right link to him as i put the wrong one up on this thread.
why do those jackwagns have to be so expensive ?????????

I too have been contiplating making some "ruff ryders skids", Just have soo many things going on... Hell I haven't ridden in a month! 1/4 inch will work great for mounts as that's what I used on my stocker and been rockin that for two seasons! The raptor one is 1/4In stainless and is welded to the swinger, that sucker is bullet proof! You on the right track Brutha, While your fabbing, cut a few pieces of 1/4" bar, weld it to the stock tabs drill the hole and give it a try, Should be good for quite a while! I just made mine too long and it hangs very low!( as you know!)
