Stock Blaster - Runs gr8 but pops - Help Sammy run with the Big Dogs

I pickeded up a stock Blaster 1996 no mods - put a clutch kit in it & Sammy been riding all summer - this is still stock bore (I had to replace th base gasket on the cylinder too)

This thing pops randomly while she is riding it, wondering if that throttle crap could be the issue? never eats a plug, starts easy, idles fine - very low on power (probably needs to be bored by now)

I replaced the reeds with Boysen stock replacements thinking it would help - same thing, just random "pop" "pop"

Will post a vid of her riding it, one of the more experienced gents probably will recognize the problem.

do a compression test. see what #'s you come up with.
blasters are dogs until you open them up.. get a pipe, carb, porting the list goes on.. welcome to the site..

The lil blaster that can't is almost making 90 PSI - about 87 is my reading.

I have owned plenty of blasters, I like this to run like a normal blaster, this one just lays down, yep we will bore it in the fall & drop a wiesco in it, but the damn popping is a PITA.

compression is too low. double check that there are no leaks

yeah you have no compression at all. even stock blasters rip so you should have known the popping wasn't the only issue

Went down & looked the bike over to take a video, seen the pop in the front when she fired it up, yep the head nuts backed off - no more popping, damn I torqued the new head gasket 3 times after installing the base gasket.

If it will hold up another month I will have the cylinder bored & a wiesco piston fitted, she can ride the quadsport instead.
