stator bad?

how do I check to see if my stators bad? what are the symptoms of a bad stator?

It should tell in the manual how to do it. I did mine long ago but I don't remember what wires to use.

I believe you set it to ohms and measure the resistance.

Ohms X 10 .

I made a boo boo, it is ohms X 100.

Pos of the tester to black/red, neg to black, 192 to 288ohms at 20c degs.

Some coils will work way out of specs.

no power. rpms would not shoot up like there supposed to. oud have to hear it to know what im trying to say. just doesnt sound right.

Air leak symptom to me!

I have just picked up a bike to repair.

The owner rode it with the exhaust that hot that it was melting the plastic covers, culprit cracked carby boot, result no compression, death.

theres no air leak. my dad went through and tightened all the base nuts because i thought it was leaking there and they were tight i tightened the reed manifold/intake. i can hold it wide open and it wont die it just wont make any power and run low rpms.

But did Dad leak test it

Did you use a tension wrench to nip up the manifold or just tighten them willy nilly?

....no... dont have a leak down tester.i keep telling him we need to leak down test it.

ofcourse hed let me use it. my exhaust leaks but I don't think that would make a big difference.
