Hey every one,

I was just curious if it is ok to not use the clutch when shifting from first to 2nd and so on???
I know on my 2011 yamaha xt 250 its ok but its newer??

I do it all the time in the tricky stuff, I do try use it as much as possible and seem to do it more on the upshift rather than the downshift. I havent noticed any wear along the way. The bikes have a constant mesh box without any synchros, so they are never really disengaging and re-engaging like on a car, all you are doing by using the clutch is lessening the force transmitted through the cogs when they change. Its still a good idea to use the clutch, Yamaha put it there for a reason, but Ive never heard of anyone breaking a gear because of not using it...

My buddy drove 150km (95miles) without a clutch once and the bike was and is fine!

Are you talking full throttle, or do you let off gas a bit? Reguardless, I to am sometimes lazy and just let off throttle a bit and shift, up or down. Unless I need more rpm on down shift, then I'll use the clutch.
