yes and no.... 81-82 250rs were low/mid 20s hp... stock.. 83-4 had better port timing which brought them to 27 hp in stock form.. big carb and pipe and you have a very healty machine... my 82 was a 82 bottom end with 84 top end ... boyseen reeds us performance pipe, fmf silencer... ran side by side with a rappy 660 tell iran outta gear...

the trx motors are much better power wise... the air cooled motors are stupid relaible if you jet right, and warm up before riding.. my 84 was still on factory top end and would still wheelie 3rd and 4th with my big ass on the front
