i bough a blaster for $250 just for parts well worth over that and decided to see what was wrong with the engine since it didnt run(reason sold cheap) and i saw the piston absolutely shattered so i dug deeper and this is what i found and was wondering how or even if i could fix it?? this is a back up motor so if you can fix it feel free to offer me something for it

Wow, BIG hole indeed! Lol, talk to sicivic... He's got lots of practice fixing broken cases and could tell you for sure if its worth trying to fix.
 
Oh heck it's fixable, I've done worse.

That is what happens when a piston skirt explodes, it gets down between the case and crank and breaks the case out.
 
The good news is, it's fixable. The bad news is, there isn't a really good way to estimate how much time and effort it might take to weld. I generally say $100 just to make sure people don't get it in their mind that aluminum welding (actually it's the grinding back down that gets me covered in little shards of aluminum that I despise!) is like a $10 affair and get their hopes up.
 
We're currently in negotiations for release of said engine.

He said he really doesn't need a second engine sitting on the shelf and doesn't really feel like paying anyone to fix and engine he doesn't need.
