A little more history:
This all began as an attempt at building a minibike (about five years ago) somehow it migrated to a quad. Originally I measured a blaster and started from there. Originally it was running with a briggs motor. About 8 months ago I bought this motor, I thot it was gonna be a simple job to mount. Unfortunately I soon found out different. In the end I practically rebuilt the frame. I also made the camber adjustable a-arms and mounted up the new front shocks at the same time.
a few more exact specs...
Motor: Honda 125cc 4 stroke
The gas tank somebody asked about...
in the picture that shows the quad from the back you can see it, it's tied to the grab bar, temporarily. I need to get one put in the proper place, I haven't bothered since it's still in testing mode. I was thinking of making one out of fiberglasss, but fiberglass is brittle and I'm scared that if I ever flipped it or something and the tank broke it would pour the gas all over the boilin' engine, fire hazard to say the least.
The plastics are also fiberglass, I kind of did the designing as I went along. I need to do a lot of prepping/detailing on them yet, some parts are still too rough.
The front shocks are Works dual-rates, but the shafts are badly scored and they need a rebuild.
Tire sizes are 18x9.50/8 rears and 20x//8 fronts, the back wheels are from a riding mower, and the front are modified scooter tires.
The back brakes are a complete disc/caliper/master cyllinder setup I got new of Ebay, they are for those cheap chinese things, that I don't know if can be even called fourwheelers.
The front brakes... well there aren't any
The back shock is currently a piece of 1"x 1" steel pipe. I was running a spring I picked up in a junk heap, on a car shock but I pretzeled it. I ordered a KFX400 shock off ebay, but I haven't gotten it yet. Lookin' forward to having suspension in back again.
Somebody asked where I'm from. I live in Costa Rica, if you dont know where that is, try google earth
If you are having fits over my riding it unpainted, yes I know I shouldn't get bare metal wet. The trouble is sometimes the urge to try it out is stronger than the knowledge that it'll be harder to prep when I'm gonna paint it.
ckeck these vids out...
The first is with the old 5hp briggs
the second is with the new Honda, but with the tiny front tires. I'll see if I can get some with the new ones one of these days.
