i was washing off some of the gunk on the rearend of the quad i just got and noticed the only thing holdning the rotor in place was the caliper. it just kind of wobbles there. from the pics you can see there used to be what looks like a seal or dust cover there, what am i missing? aslo the sproket seems alil sloppy too on the axel, any fixes or suggestions? and for fun i tossed in a pic of the p/o welding job on the chain roller lol. i told the guy he needs to take all his tools and toss them in the river, never to touch a machine of any sort again lol. i got this thing for $25 so i cant complaine too much, but damn!

The rotor floats so that's ok. Should have a rubber boot on both sides of the hub. The sprocket hub should not move. Unless the hub/splines are badly worn you should be able to tighten it with the big axle nuts. Good time to check your bearings. I can't comment on welding skills :)

thanks, it didnt seem like there would be much of a lproblem with the rotor, but the sproket clunking back and forth kinda bothered me.might be time for a new banshee axle maybe. it was on my todo list for later, wanted to get it up and running and do the tear down next winter, but maybe itll be alil sooner than i thought. thanks for the help.

yea there should be a rubber boot on each side of the rotor and it has a clip on each side to that holds the rotor in place.yea and that weld looks like sh*t.wonder why he welded it the roller is susposse to bolt in

I thought the same thing about the brake hub, but these guys are right just need to get new covers (seals) the part number is 2XJ-25715-00-00 Youll need two. The springs are 933440-44158-00 need 2 and other size is 93440-36159-00 need 2 of these also.

I ordered online but if ya want thenm faster the dealer will get them in 3 days or so but they cost more as usual.
here a link to get them items #4, #6, #7 doesn't matter what years they are all the same.

they're all the same from 88-02....the 03+ ones are different, they have a fixed hubs

cool, thanks guys. i noticed the same thing about the rollers too. they look to be bolt ons, but he welded two bolts in place to act as studs. im gonna chop it off and redo it tho, at work i have the perfect rollers to make for the chain.prob not as soft as the originals, but plentiful for me so i can replace anytime.now i just gotta get work to order them in diff colors lol.this quad is a 91 so im finding all kinds of "fixes" that arent up to par.i may just get it up and running this summer, but im sure nxt winter will be a complete tear down.

Hey, not trying to threadjack, but I have a question thats on topic with this.

If I set my parking brake and roll the quad forward and backward, my axle rotates about an inch in each direction before it grabs. However, the brake doesnt move.

So, is there supposed to be a little amount of slop in the axle? If not, how do I fix that slop?

No, the pad isnt slipping because my rotor isnt moving.

The axle spins a bit, but the rotor doesnt spin. That thing is held in place firmly, but theres just a little bit of play on the axle itself. Its odd to see the sprocket move a bit, but the brake rotor and caliper stay fixed and dont move.
