slightly touch throttle and it wants to quit.....

im not the best with carbs, so i should have know not to mess with it. but today i put a new main jet in for winter (240) and now when i slightly touch the throttle it wants to die but if i give it more throttle it is fine. I thought the spark plug was bad so i changed it but it didnt help. im thinking something got in the carb to make it dirty. If so i will spray some cleaner in it again..... any ideas???

Don't worry; stuff happens. Check your pilot jet. It is screwed down, inside the recessed hole beside the main jet. Use a small flatblade screwdriver to unscrew the pilot jet and clean it out. Blow some carb cleaner down in the hole and through the holes in the jet. I bet your pilot jet is partially-clogged and is making the quad bog right off idle.

Also, be sure the airscrew is at least 1 turn out. This setting will allow a stock, or mostly stock, Blaster to idle and accelerate normally, provided the pilot jet is clean. You can adjust the airscrew for best idle (turn it in = richer, back it out = leaner) after the acceleration problem has been solved.

Kudos to you for changing your main jet for winter riding! Your engine will thank you. Don't be scared of carburetors; there's no 'black magic' involved. You just need a little practice.

Nope, ahah, just the opposite. It has to do with Density more than anything..In the winter, the air is more dense...

thanks, but where is the pilot jet in relation to the main jet...? i didnt really see anything but the big white clip and the main jet the goes on top of it?

Lol, I finally decided to look into that about 2-3 top ends were wasted on my blaster....My blaster sits out in Arizona, So I had to learn the stuff before i jetted it for out there!

The pilot jet is down in a hole beside the main jet. You won't see it. Take the fuel bowl off and stick a small screwdriver down the hole and start unscrewing. The pilot jet will drop out once you loosen it up. It is small; don't lose it on accident!

OK......Well.......I took it apart today and cleaned the hell out of it and it still wants to die and now it wants to rev high on idle.....? i have the air screw turned out 1 turn. that is where it ran fine before now if i turn it out a 1/2 turn it runs fine. isnt that too far in??? anyways it still wants to die when i barely touch the throttle, could it be the float level?? what should it be set at?
