So i picked up this 03 for 500$ US ( pics here Blaster question - Yamaha Blaster Forum) got it running as soon as we got it home but the only problem is sixth gear is missing im going to tear it apart tonight but was just wondering if blasters had any common problems or any other things to look out for? I dont see anything being wrong with the gear as its probrably not the most used gear im thinking maybe the forks or barrel? Maybe the guy had it apart and put it together wrong? Any other things to look out for let me know thanks guys!

comon things would be the oil injection, star gear shaft(have it welded is the going solution, ask someone, i dont know about it), tors is a good one to remove, causes you electrical problems in some cases. and just tighten everything to spec, especially the flywheel or you'll keep shearing woodruff keys.

I guess I worded this wrong im looking for other reasons my sixth gear would be gone Im not worried about my tors oil injection etc has nothing to do with my trans problem thanks anways

make sure its missing 6th, ive had so many people say "my blasters a 5spd" ..lol its an easy mistake if youve never owned one

IM asking for possible reasons my sixth gear could be gone not how to ride a bike sixth gear definatly isnt there I have been riding for a long time I know how to shift lol thanks...

From the looks of it someone ran the hell out of it, maybe they were speed shifting and jammed something up in the case, idk, shift forks maybe? I had a 1982 pe175 that 5th gear was missing, the guy I got rid of it to said he got it into 5th one day by speed shifting it into 5th or by holding up on it. Cant remember, been awhile ago, Just a thought.

Unbelievable how immature some people are on this forum thanks to everyone else for the real answers got the engine out this morning top end off going back it it soon all keep this updated

Let me get this straight, when in 5th and trying to go to 6th. Does the shifter "click" like its trying to go in? Does it just stay in 5th and keep going or does it act like a neutral and rev up? are there any strange noises related to this? Just trying to get a better idea for what the bikes acting like.

Theres just nothing there when you try to put it in sixth no noises just wont engage into the sixth gear
