When i go to rebuild, should i use rtv or yamabond or not? I was told by the guy at the dealer that i will blow the thing back up if i use it.

where? on the head gasket no, anywhere else I only use yamabond if I find a leak. use new gaskets if you can they aren't that expensive

I know to use new gaskets, but will it hurt to use yamabond on the base cylinder gasket and the reed gaskets???

yamabond between the cases, if your splitting them
it's not recommended to use anything, anywhere else, the gaskets alone should be enuf, and do a leakdown test to check for leaks

if new dry (no sealer) stock gaskets are leaking, you are either improperly torqing things, your prep work sucks or the mating surfaces need to be lapped.

At work i use CRC Brakleen. Would this be good to clean the cylinder to case? cause there is left over gasket from the previous top end.

spray, lightly scrape, repeat.. this softens the old gasket. to many people go at it hard core with a dry razor blade, gouge the aluminum and wonder why they have air leaks...

I had brand new gaskets leak on my VF3s. Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket (gas resistant) sealed them up nicely. RTV has no place on my quads.
