side to side axle play(resolved)

ive got about 3/8 of side to side play with my new axle with the lock nut tightened down(the gforce locknut is weird as hell). whats the deal? the stock axles have that spacer type deal thats attached to the axle that sits against the bearing/spacer, this one doesnt have that, but it does bottom out when its pushed from the brake side to the sproket side, its just the sproket hub isnt going any further to tighten against the carrier.

anyone know exactly what the differences are between the 88-02 and 03+ axles? there is a difference, just never seen or heard what it was before.


1 other thing... whats a good way to break a bead (rear razrs) without damaging the tires? never done it and i dont want to mess up the bead because the tires are going back on my new beadlocks.

ya mine does it to with the dura blu, i needed to get a larger brake hub, but it was a raptor axle so...
i usually break the bead by setting up 2x4 right up against the rim and then drive up the board until the bead goes then rotate and make sure theres very lil or no air in em

it fits so much better than the stock axle....

for the tires.. they make a bead breaker. atv tires are a pain in the ass because they have some like safety bead trust me i did quite a bit of tire changing... truckers have a bar called a breaker bar that works too its like a rod inside of a tube that comes to like a spatchula at the end set it against the bead and you just keep hammering.... or bring it to a shop

03+ has a huge difference you need a banshee style or 03+ blaster brake hub. It will not fully tighten down without it. The stock axles have a welded on washer to tighten against, the 03+ style have a recess that uses the new hub to tighten. Does it have about a 1/8 lip around the brake hub area? If so then you def need a newer hub.

ok hold on, your acually making sence and helping, no one else was saying what the difference is.

im going to go take pictures of sh*t, but i do know it doesnt have that stock spacer welded/machined on to it. dont know what you mean about the brake hub.

Unstock is 100% correct.You will need either a 03 up blaster,or banshee brake hub and it will work great.All other parts will interchange.I have tons of pics of the shee setup if it helps.It works the same for the shee axle conversion just need to get the shee or newer blaster brake hub.Hope this helps.

ok I drew a pic up there is only 2 styles of axle. Basically the hub works like a spacer. The hub with dust boots is to thin, and the 2003 hubs are wider on the spline area. I didnt quite understand the idea until I got my banshee axle. You do need the inner hub for the brake rotor or could try to make up a spacer. I would prefer one piece though.

hmm im kinda of getting it, but that picture you drew, unstock, confused me a bit.
heres some pictures if your looking at it from the back(obviously) then i pulled it out the side so you can see the whole center section.

and this is the right side with the brake hub, the issue side. im confused because theres no lip like unstocks saying, but there is a big ring that goes in that groove that i guess would do the same thing, but whats supposed to go with that ring? the banshee hub? i need a good picture of the banshee brake hub or 03 or whatever i would need to understand.

You need to put the metal clip in the groove and get a banshee brake hub. The banshee hub is a little wider and when you tighten the axle nut it'll prevent it from moving side to side.

the brake rotor will still line up properly right? because i know the pre 03 brake hub floats and isnt in 1 spot. lets just hope so.

anyone have a branshee brake hub? year doesnt matter right for the shee brake hub? i dont need more different year bullshit.

So from what I am reading in this post, you have to get a banshee brake hub to have the G force axle fit on a 88-02 blaster? And are you guys talking about the brake disk or no?

Yeah, talking about the brake hub. You only need the hub, if the axle is meant to be mounted on a banshee. If the axle is made for an older blaster, then you don't need the hub.

cant help ya on the axle.. but for breaking the bead to get the tires off... you can put the rim/ tire in front of your car or truck, and drive over the sidewall of the tire.. works on cars and trucks.. or the 2x4 idea works also.. or take it to a auto shop.. they can do it.. they did the tires on my trailer

only reason i dont want to take it to a tire shop is them ruining the the rim with there hack machines and they might not have the right machine to do this small of tire.

any good tire shop should do it the right way. just sit there and watch them do it. i get mine done at Les Schwab, but i dont think you have any of them up there. Any tire shop that cars, should have poly urathane covers that go over the arm that breaks the bead and all that. my powder coated wheels lookd brand new when the tires went on. not a scratch of a nic.
