Hey guys racer51 finally after a month of no computer found out the monitor was bad.OMG I was going through widthdrals lol.
Anyway I cant get my 04 blaster running right now and need some help figureing out why. It ran fine when I got it. I replaced the throttle cable with the correct one, and cleaned out the carb out spottless. The jets are a 32.5 pilot and 250 main. Also added a brand new set of VF3's while I had it apart just for good measure and have heard many good things and have never used them. Also decided to do an oil change since I had the time. The oil was damn near silver, glad I dident ride it like that (whu). I did plug chops it was ok but wouldent fire, had spark, wouldent fire, my dad got it to start up and let it dle for 10 min. Shut it off and added more oil. Now I cant get it running again, the back fenders/air filter are off so I can get at it easier no luck in the last 2 weeks I know you guys got the answers thanks:D

Stupid question, but when you installed the VF3 reeds, did you install both the reed block AND the black platic reed retainer which sort of resembles a big black fork? The retainer is a must-have; otherwise the reeds will pop out of the carrier after the engine runs for a few mins and you'll never get it started.

Also, you did use a gasket on either side of the VF3 cage, correct? You need one on each side. Otherwise you'll have an air leak.

If all this checks out and you are SURE you have spark, see if the engine will hit off with a little 2-stroke mix poured directly into the intake. If it does, you may still have carb problems.

If it doesn't, disassemble your reeds and check 'em again.

Also, does your Blasty still have the TORS hooked up? May be a bad parking brake switch if it hasn't been disconnected yet.

Check it over and report back.

First part yes The VF3 reed block and the fork are in because their supposed to correct. (My thought was to resemble the octagonal shape the stock ones have (rubber) arent they?) But yes I did. Second part yes I used the exact ones (2) supplied. Third part yes I have spark on all three plugs. pour a little into the intake? or with the plug removed in that way? cause I've seen people start their rusted out snomobiles in class for a few seconds? I'm not crazy with the Idea of doing it that way. I've tried a spritz of eather through the carb. Part 4 I dont have the tors or the parking brake or the pre mixer just like any used blaster would.
My only real problem is a weak kick. I can kick the lever over pretty easily 3 or 4 times and on the 5th or whatever it acts like it has no tenshion at all it just floors to the metal stopper by the brake. Then the next one will be like the others and when I get a stiff good kick it goes blugh blugh blugh blaw and dosent start with WOT it's a tad better but still dosent start.

Looks like its time for you to do a compression test! The kicker should be difficult to press down with your foot and just about impossible to do by hand.

If the engine kicks over that easily and it only tries to run, I strongly suspect weak compression.

Get a comp gauge, screw it in the plug hole, hold the throttle wide open, and kick the engine over until the needle on the gauge stops moving. You need at least 120psi compression for the engine to run properly. Anything below 100psi and it will be difficult or impossible to get started.

Comp test and report back.

Way ahead of you 140 PSI 3 psi upwards difference in the 3 times I did it 2 weeks ago, and the once a few hours ago. Without the throttle open at all.

Well there are only so many options
Compression
Timing
Fuel
Spark

Tried fresh fuel yet? fuel petcock clogged? Tried loosening the gas cap?

Checked the flywheel key to see if its intact?

Yea I know naw fuel should be good Premium with dominator mixed...Timing?How do I do that cause I havent done that. What do I gotta do take the clutch cover off? Spark yea on all 3 I got .I really doubt fuell is cloged..............Gas cap???no why

Here in Aus I often have to clean out the gas cap breather as we have wasps here that love to build nests in them.,

Sometimes the breather can be twisted, pinched or blocked which will hinder the flow of fuel, especially with a full tank.

If you have had it idling then timing should not be a problem, unless you have had a backfire , or come to a sudden halt shearing the flywheel key.

Is your plug fuel wet.

Yea it's wet, no backfire thank god. BTY mud wasps? There nasty up north in ohio in the hot months lol. Thankfully the cold snap kills a lot of them off :) I'm gonna ask my dealer for a higher tenshion kick start spring to put more umph in my kick hopefully that will translate into a start up on the first kick... I'll report back in a day or so if it works or not.

Well I took out the kick gear today and as I suspected it was out of spec because the last guy to open her up dident tighten the spring even though it was in the hole so go figure why it dident start. So I took the long prong on the end of the spring and coiled it up tight and it took a few tries to gret the cover back on but it sits in there tight now. Because when I got everything buttoned up and put some oil in there. There was absolutely no 4th or 5th kick slop and I kicked it over about 20+ times and it tried it's hardest to sputter to life and almost did 2 or 3 times but she dident feel like it today. So I'm gonna count this as a win :D:DI:I:D:D
