alright guys, i'm debating on getting a scooter here soon. i'm tired of driving my gas hogs and with gas prices soaring with no limit in sight this seems reasonable. i only have to drive 2-3 miles to work everyday too so it wouldn't be a problem.

here is my dilema though. i have always said i wouldn't be caught dead on a drunk bike. if i break down and buy one i'm going to make it badass. exhaust, big bore kit, carb etc. i mean if i have to do it then it's gonna be an awesome scooter.

anyone know anything about them? what's the best brand to buy? best place to get parts? best parts to buy?

i believe that the guys over at project blaster sell stuff don't they? i know i have seen parts somewhere.

don't laugh at me. lol :p

How fast do you need to go on your way to work? Like what's the speed limit. A Tomos moped does around 30-35 stock....but they are REALLY restrictive 2 stroke engines. It's not even funny. With some simple air box changes, taperbored carb(or new carb) simple clean up port work, and larger sprockets, they can get up to 55-60mph no problem. My dad's Honda C70 cub is a 4 stroke and it does around 45....but there are all kinds of mods and crap for scooters and mopeds.

get one of these. It's and aprilia RS-50, 6-speed 50cc 2 stroke... I can do about 70mph on it...

quick responses woo! i want to go as fast as possible haha. need to go with the traffic if i can. would rather have a 2 stroke, but this zuma is badass. i'd so ride the sh*t out that.

Aprilia stuff costs some coin but that's one BADASS scooter right. More like a mini sport bike.

yeah, they are about 8K new I think.... I got it for about 1,500 used it's a 2001
from what I have read, there frame is almost an exact clone of a honda cbr600rr

if you find one used for a good price GET IT! lol

Get a Honda Ruckus, I used to have one, super easy modding and reasonable price with tons of aftermarket support. Not quite as gay looking as the rest

those honda ruckus' don't look that great to me. i think i'll hunt for a yamaha zuma 125cc. they look the best and obviously will haul ass lol. if i go through with this it should fun.

my buddy thinks it's a hilarious idea.

I vote honda silverwing or the suzuki burgman.

Both are classified as a motorcycle but have the "underbone" frame. Not like a motorcycle to ride. It would be more like riding an office chair to work...

ORRRR you could get a relatively fuel efficient motorcycle. A GZ250 or rebel 250. Heck, even a shadow 600 isn't horrible on gasoline.

those aprilia's are awesome too, but i'm looking to go the cheapest route possible.

Tomos 50 moped=100mpg
Honda C70 scooter=130mpg

Both are dirt cheap. The other thing is to craigslist away at people. You have to realize, just like the ATV scene, most of those people are complete morons.......even more so than ATV people, so if it won't start, they will just sell it for half price when it's just a dead battery or some dumb sh*t like that.

cuz 99% of those people are dumbass, hippe, faggots. but dont get me wrong. In this day and age, i would drive the sh*t out of a scooter that gets 130 to the gallon.

i know what you guys mean about ppl being morons. those are the kind of the types i look for lol. i have a little mechanical know how and know what i'm looking at most of the time.

knock-off or not, that's a good deal...

You can save $300 in gas in about 6 months even not riding too far from work. Who cares it's a knock-off and goofy looking. It'll get like 100MPG and it's CHEAP!
