School construction project

hey,its my final year in school and we have to do a practical project for construction studies .
it can be made out of any material .
any suggestions on what to make most make theirs out of wood but i would be alot better with metal ... i was thinking a skateboard ,make a former for the wooden part and making the trucks out of aluminium and machining them on the milling machine? what do you guys think or do you have any other suggestions

how bout a quad scissor lift, it's next on my list with the rest of the steel tubing from an old treadmill, sumthin like this............

using a scissor jack most cars use, i have 2 or 3 laying around............
