Scary Fast Power Now

the dyno is only good when the person using it knows how to use it.

have you guys ever watched the show trucks or 2 guys in a garage?
on 2 guys, they supercharged a 08 GT. then put it on the dyno before any tuning. right away they noticed at a certain rpm the engine power dropped. they was able to to see it was because of the AF ratio was off. with in a total of one minute, from doing the dyno run and changing the AF ratio at that rpm range, they fixed the problem.

If a dyno is so good y do you see some ATV that claim to have a dyno run with 70HP get killed by a ATV with a ass dyno of 55HP?????lol

An ass dyno of 55hp? Yeah that makes sense. You are aware that a dyno measures more than peak power right? People claim high hp numbers because it sells.

Here is a dyno run of my LT. I know about having a quad with a rideable powerband. That's a reason why I don't have my 404 Banshee anymore. Large bore single cylinder has a much broader torque curve.

when i went to the 62 mm carb, bike was dynoed at my friends harley dealer, was at 82-85 hp, depending on some tweaks,
ran it at atco speedway, and my 1/4 time dropped a full second!
my ASS dyno knew right away it wasnt pulling as hard, but from the 48mm carb to the 62, i gained 10hp, there was some other things done, diff domes, im trying to keep it short, anyway, gained 10hp, lost a second, and the ass dyno knew it first pass, we threw the 48mm back on and lowered compression one dome, and got that second back on the next 2 passes, when we re dynoed it a cpl days later, it was running 71-72 hp.

ASS DYNO FOR THE WIN!
that just made my brain hurt trying to remember all that

Just curious, when you stepped up to the bigger 62mm carb. and gained the extra 10HP, did you effectively lose some of your bottom end torque?
That could account for your assdyno noticing that loss of the 1 sec., that 10HP gain WAS there..........you just ran out of track.

absolutely. i was running the banshee with 4 other owners. we had a real nice think tank, in 89, there were only a few banshees in the area, let alone anyone modding them or running on asphalt. , remember, 250r trikes were still the rage, well, alot of you CANT remember, cuz you wasnt born in 89!! j/k, had to do it.
we have a local airport, has an almost 2 mi runway, friend of a friend knew someone, and we got 2 hrs during a maint shut down to run on the strip, once a month, this is where we dialed in mostly, had the 1/8, 1/4 and 1 mile marked,
with the 62, it would start to come on after the 1/4, but the banshee ran outa gear,
i could get 4mph more top end, but not enough in the 1/4, and for the cost of that carb at the time, that 4mph did nothing for it., so yes, that is exactly what happened, gained a bit on top, lost the bottom, and in racing, you gotta dial in for a finite set of parameters.
had alot of fun and met alot of people in those days.
used to street race in south philly, now that was fun, black boys on tricked out quads ruling the streets of philly, nothing but a good time.

ahhh, a dirtwheels vet. i used to have the 7-11 call me when the truck got there!!!
it was the only way to tune then. toomey used to have his own segment, tom turner had one (tom turner, for those who don't know, was yamaha's factory tuner for thier street racing machines, and was the lead designer and tuner on the famed RZ350 and the RD350, im sure most know what they were)
i would read those mags till the covers fell off.
still have a bunch in a box, my kids been hittin them now, want them to know how to do their own research, not jump on a forum for quick answers
