Just curious, when you stepped up to the bigger 62mm carb. and gained the extra 10HP, did you effectively lose some of your bottom end torque?
That could account for your assdyno noticing that loss of the 1 sec., that 10HP gain WAS there..........you just ran out of track.
absolutely. i was running the banshee with 4 other owners. we had a real nice think tank, in 89, there were only a few banshees in the area, let alone anyone modding them or running on asphalt. , remember, 250r trikes were still the rage, well, alot of you CANT remember, cuz you wasnt born in 89!! j/k, had to do it.
we have a local airport, has an almost 2 mi runway, friend of a friend knew someone, and we got 2 hrs during a maint shut down to run on the strip, once a month, this is where we dialed in mostly, had the 1/8, 1/4 and 1 mile marked,
with the 62, it would start to come on after the 1/4, but the banshee ran outa gear,
i could get 4mph more top end, but not enough in the 1/4, and for the cost of that carb at the time, that 4mph did nothing for it., so yes, that is exactly what happened, gained a bit on top, lost the bottom, and in racing, you gotta dial in for a finite set of parameters.
had alot of fun and met alot of people in those days.
used to street race in south philly, now that was fun, black boys on tricked out quads ruling the streets of philly, nothing but a good time.
ahhh, a dirtwheels vet. i used to have the 7-11 call me when the truck got there!!!
it was the only way to tune then. toomey used to have his own segment, tom turner had one (tom turner, for those who don't know, was yamaha's factory tuner for thier street racing machines, and was the lead designer and tuner on the famed RZ350 and the RD350, im sure most know what they were)
i would read those mags till the covers fell off.
still have a bunch in a box, my kids been hittin them now, want them to know how to do their own research, not jump on a forum for quick answers
