OK guys here it is. Just bought a 96 Blaster in need of work. It is now on all 4 wheels and kicks over and runs ok at idle. I took off down the driveway and all seemed well until I went past about half throttle then the motor revved to the moon. The kill switch didn't work and then pulled the spark plug, that didn't work either. I quickly pulled the boot off the back of the carb and cut the air supply. This is my first 2 stroke and not sure what to do next. Ideas?

check to make sure the thorttl is working properly, and do a leak test....

you pulled the sparkplug wire and it didnt' work???? umm how is that possible. it was so hot it was ingnighting from the heat?? if that is the case....... I would say airleak just from the info you gave

It's the crankshaft seals I had to choke it to death... it stuck on my first aswell I will show a vid of what happened to mine

Sounds like an air leak creating extra combustion chamber heat, causing preignition.

Leak down test and check if the jetting suits your mods.

Thanks for all the info. I will look up how to do a leak test and see where it goes.... After the football game...

Most 2 strokes will do this, and some 4 strokes as well.
2 strokes don't need timing advance at high rpm so they are more prone to it.
Heat from the plug is causing pre-ignition.

Keep it in mind if it ever happens to you, kill the air, fuel or jam it in gear with the brakes on.
