rick's cdi box wont rev up

finally fixed my wiring issue, some nuthead wired the stator coils backwards (light was on power coil)

anyhow when i have the ricks box on it doesnt rev at all, and with the stock cdi it runs fine. tried it with tors on and tors off

im fine with runing the stock box but for something that i paid 40 bucks for i want to know why it doesnt like my quad

It's possible wiring it backward fried some of the wiring on the Ricks- I had a similar problem with my used crb600rr bike. The previous owner wired it backwards and ruined the CDI and Stator and fuel pump.
Hopefully your issue lies elsewhere :-[

this is true, but i also tried it backwards when using the stock cdi box sooo...

might have fried something wont even start on the ricks box now lol o well

did you try to improve using the rickys cdi?? or did yours quite?

well before i found the stator wire figured it was the cdi, ricks was 40 bucks n yamahas is 100 somethin

on ricks the rev limiter is raised and timing advanced? mine seems to be the opposite :O

blasters dont have rev limiters at all..

i got it at the local shop and after further investigation its a 40$ oem box

learnin all sortsa stuff today
