ok i was thinking... if you pull the clutch side case off (the one if you were going to change the clutch) and remove the stoper on the kick start the stops the lever from going forwar and remove the spring...you could shut off the engine and kick it forward like a atc/trx250r and the gears and crank would turn the other way! yes i know the lever would flop around when riding but we can fix that later by making a clip holder off the frame

i am after it gets out of the shop (my stator blew), and on the next oil change when its all drained and i can get it there and do it

its a sound therory, its better then messying withe cdi ignition ike some one on here said months ago. because when i changed the gasket a few weeks ago (i talk about it on here) i was wondering about it and just relizied it, theres a little metal peice in the kick gear that doesnt let it go forward and keeps it in place, remove that and the spring and wallaaaa reverce!

ehh i think the only way i see this working properly is if the timing was set to go off right at TDC then you could go forward and backward with no problems if i am thinking correctly cause all the tranny gears and straight cut to my knowledge so there shouldnt be anyproblems there.
idk man post it up when you do it im curious on how it turns out

The over-running clutch won't engage in reverse, otherwise the engine will run in reverse all day long with no problems. It's a sound theory. The timing will be retarded quite a bit in rev. rotation but it'd do to back up. If you can figure out how to get around the engagement issue in the kicker mechanism itself it would be awesome.

you just got your blaster back from the shop, if you do this it will probably be back in the shop. you guys bought a yamaha blaster. theres no 2 stroke utility quad. theyre made for racing. you get what you pay for. if i get stuck im not going to want to turn my quad off, kick it, reverse it, shut it off again, start it and go. way to much work as where i could just hop off, turn it around and go. these quads are made for racing... your just going to mess something up

I'm confused, what do you mean by over-running clutch?

I have seen blasters go in reverse! but not forward also. i think the key or something was broken. but they will drive in reverse with all gears

it is simple. they just go in reverse when the crank goes backwards.
you can pop start it, going backwards then it will go backwards but is highly not recommended. dirtbikes do this sometimes

well it isnt like its that hard to turn it off and kickstart go back ward turn off again and kick start takes like 2 sec...
you cant really mess anything up.. i mean look at golf cart how do they work just like that..
i say go for it dude and tell us how it goes!

i dnt think its a great idea either, but the yamaha g1 golfcart has alot of similar parts as the blaster, it starts in reverse electronically, if you could take the sylenoids, battery, ect you could get it to start in reverse. but my point is you could definetly start it in reverse.

it cant happen these engines wont start in reverse

Blasters will start in reverse. Kick them foward just like this guy is talking about and you can run through all 6 gears in reverse.

There is a video somebody posted in the video files that shows a blaster doing it.

Check it out.
