Hey guys, I have a 1993 Yamaha blaster. I have recently noticed oil spitting out of the side of the cylinder at the level of the base gasket. Logic tells me I've got a blown base gasket. Haven't attempted a rebuild before but curious to know what you guys would recommend as far as base gasket replacement protocol. I am looking at top end gasket kits on ebay in the $24 range (NE and K&S) unless anyone has had a bad experience with them. Will I need any kind of sealant during the replacement?

Cheers.

Is there any place you know of besides the stealership to pick up just the base gasket? Don't really want to buy the whole kit.

buy the whole kit that way you have all new gaskets.. while you have it apart get the cylinder check to make sure its still round get it honed and put new rings on it.. then cover those gaskets with some copper gasket sealer/maker and put them on to the proper torque specs (dont forget to brake it in again and do a leakdown test) and itll run like a brand new machine... have fun
