O.K. so I'm thinking about new reeds for the blaster but have no idea what to get. I really like a wide powerband, not too peaky or like an on-off switch. I do mostly trail/mc track rides, not interested in drags... I was wondering if you guys had any opinions about what to get as far as reeds go and what I can expect from them. Currently I have the following:
Bored .060 over Namura power piston. (Two extra jugs on hand just in case)
OKO 30mm carb, 285 main jet, needle clip in 3rd.
Carb spacer
2 degree offset key
DG exhaust and silencer (it was on the bike...)
14 tooth front sprocket
Stock reeds and cage with limiters removed.
Modded air box with small filter pods. Stretched boot to fit carb. (it is larger now!)
When putting my engine together I noticed the ports in the Namura piston were waaayyyy different than the Wiseco piston that was in it for whatever that's worth. Overall it runs a lot better and has way better bottom end than when I got it, but that was 7 years ago, and the stock carb had a 170 main jet in it upon inspection
along with all the other nightmares I already talked about elsewhere... so it probaly really doesn't run a lot better than stock.. I dunno, not much to compare it with.
Any suggestions would be great. Thinking about having a trail port/combustion chamber re-do done on one of my spare cylinders/heads in the future, so bear that in mind. Also, looking for a cheap right side case so I can complete a different bottom end, I have all new bearings and a standard hot rods crank just sitting there... might as well use it.
