Are rear wheel spacers any good? My brother says they suck and that I should just get a banshee axle but I want to hear your opinions about them.

it really depends on where/how you ride. for regular trail riding, the spacers should work fine, but for any aggressive riding/racing, get the axle. I ran wheel spacers back in the day and they worked fine for cruising around but bent my axle on the first lap at the local mx track

I do agressive trail riding with some jumping but, i have never ran on a MX track. i want to really bad though. But, I dont have any problems with my rear spacers. Also the banshee axel only gives you 1-2 inches. somebody correct me if i am wrong.

I haven't done this yet but have been researching and here is what I've found in terms of the banshee rear axle.

If you have an 03 or up blaster, the banshee axle goes right in. If not, you need a banshee carrier, which will bolt up to your blaster. It's the same as teh 03+ blaster carrier. You will then be able to hook up hydraulic rear caliper for your disc....not sure about running the manual caliper with the banshee carrier.

The banshee axle is a total of 3.75" wider than a blaster giving you just under 2" on either side.

Again, this is what I've dug up in terms of research so I can't tell you that it for sure works with no modifications, but from what I've gathered that is what it seems like.

How big are your spacers Specialized? I don't have an 03 I have an 01. I was gonna buy an axle but I need one with a carrier. I don't want one without a carrier because my dad went through the trouble of putting brand new bearings and I don't wanna screw them up so I thought of getting one with one. But that was before I thought of widening it.

I apologize to thread jack, but if you are interested in a trade... I may possibly have a trade for you.. Not quite sure, but possible. We have a sewt of 2.5 spacers, and I would prefer he put 1.5 on his quad for hare scramble racing... We can discuss it in PM's if you want to talk more about it.

Again sorry to threadjack.
