I recently purchased a 1996 Blaster which the rear brake assembly has been "upgraded" to a hydraulic disc brake assembly. Unfortunately it is not working properly. I was curious if someone can please give me some feed back. I've read some mixed reviews on weather or not they are worth it. Giving the fact that I have an existing one, I was thinking about fixing the current one. Or buying a new one. And with that, could anyone recommend any one assembly? Thanks in advanced!!!

It's a conversion. The reservoir says "AIRHEART" on it. I just realized that today. I have the Blaster at a friends house and was over there earlier today to investigate the situation a little more.

I have the exact same problem.

Mine has "Home Made" Brake pads in it, and the disc is a little chewed. I bled them out and checked to see what was up, the Piston Hardly moves when has rust around the rim of the slave. The master works fine and push's fluid through.
Now what? Should I order new pads and a piston and seals? I think that would fix my problem.

I don't know what to suggest for you. Would you rather buy something else? Or do you want the old cable assembly? The hydraulic setup has less parts and would be far better as all the other Cable/Drum systems I have a sh*t.

Yea......it really sucks! I called the company but they where closed. I left a message, so hopefully they will get back to me. Does anyone know what kind of fluid they use? Is it just normal brake fluid, or something special?

These setups are made by one company and sold by many.Parts are not the easiest to come by.Try bleeding it first and make sure fluid is flowing.

Just coming back to this,

I dissasembled my caliper and got the piston moving properly, just a little tight, lubed it up fully with brake fluid and pushed it back and forth half a dozen times, probably over worked it a little but owell it's better than before.

Took the Caliper into my guy and got new brake pads, the lip on the disc is OK so I'm not even going to skim it, otherwise I might have stuck it on a lathe and shaved a fraction off the surface.

Refilled the system and bled it out, and it's ok. I guess I was lucky and it only cost me new pads.
