OK this is my first post on the site and here is the situation. My son and I are running a 04 blaster. After market exhaust, Jetted and pyramid reed valve fron ATV world UK.Also we have Elka shocks front and back, longer swingarm +2" and a wider rear axel. Ran the full championship last year 9 races in all and finished mid table in 9th place. I am very happy for his first season but I want more now.

He has one more season left in the Blaster class and I want power and I want it relieable. What do I do. He is 15 yrs old and nearly 5 foot 8 inches in height. Weight is around 182 lbs or 13 st. Most of the kids in this class are half his weight but I just want him to be a little more compeditive. Help.

I am based in Ireland but not afraid to deal overseas.

what sort of aftermarket exhaust? they make tons and some really suck and some really rock.

ditch the pyamid reeds and get vforce3's

get a high flow air filter like k&n or vito's

if the competition allows get a good port job to either match your current pipe or a better pipe.

I was thinking of getting the 68mm piston and port and polish. They don't allow 240 kits but my son is racing against 250cc four stroke bike's with guy's about half his weight. The exhaust is a FMF powercore2 and jetted for that. What about carb's or carb tuning.

dont bore unless you need to it wont help much and to rebuild you'd need a new cyl or sleeve if you'd do that.

as for exhaust. a fmf fatty is more of a trail pipe that gives you more power down low on the rpm range. im assuming your racing mx so a different pipe would work wonders. i cant really recomend a mx pipe tho but im sure some others can.

im with everyone on the port job. and a right bend pipe will probably be the better option. fmf isnt top of the line. and u said u have the fmf powercore 2 which is a silencer, do u have an a/m header pipe cuz that makes all the difference

sleek, im from northern ireland, not often you see someone from here on this! and you need a good port and polish, i have a bike for sale, she has a full alan forbes tune with v force 2 reed valve, she goes like stink, never once blew a gasket or anything nasty like that. if you race down south you may know the tune, he did many of those top bikes, exact same tune of engine, I'm actually publishing an advert on the internet here at the moment, you can have a read.....

2003 yamaha blaster, was very last of drum brake model

this bike was raced by myself on flat grass tracks up until a years ago, and simply lack of use since that is forcing sale

Anything this bike has needed it has got, with the latest work being front brakes - cables and shoes, new wiseco piston, fresh silkolenes light gear oil, new iridium spark plug and a new chain

let me know what you think, if you know of any bikes that Alan has done, you'll know what to expect of this bike
if you're looking for your lad to be more competitive, he has all the perfect handling parts, just needs a good strong engine,

cheers
Aaron

yes because it wouldn't show up each time I posted it so I kept posting it til it came up, i wondered what was wrong, i thought it was a problem on my laptop, but now i see you must have deleted it? I'm no scammer mate, what harm is that post doing?

and its also a post for trying to sell ur bike....not trying to be a dick, but quite a few newbs show up to sell stuff outside the marketplace...if u wanna sell it, read the rules in the marketplace bro

look mate, calm down, it's a post at the end of the day, yes it's a post to help sell my bike, and also to tell him about the man who tuned my bike, sorry if I'm in the wrong section, but don't call me a scammer, you make me sound like some wierdo trying to sell stuff off the back of a lorry, its a post of a genuine quad for sale, you'd think id posted porn!

well not too many guys sign up....and make their first post a sale post......so understand that ive deleted 100's of spam posts just like that one from spammers and scammers......so my bad if for once i got a actual member and not a spammer

no bother i understand were you're coming from :)

its actually my second account, i forgot my old username and password from my old computer and never made a new account til tonight, and when i seen 'sleekfx' post i was shocked to see someone from ireland and signed up there tonight to tell him about what i had and knew, sorry for the wrong post, but sure, I'll know for again lol

aww cheers mr moderator I:I lol nothing like a good first impression eh?? lol

A1 job lad, think thats me for the night lol

Cheers Aaron sounds like a nice bike but at the moment I would like to work on what I have and build it with my son. Ok port and polish and change the exhaust. Yes I do have the full ehaust system from the head back so do I change everything or just the back box. What about all these reed valve spacers and exspansion tanks and so on that you can get. They must do something of a company like Vito would not be selling them.

There is one thing that I did not mention is that my son is also deaf and rides the bike on the vide's and not sound. This makes him change gears alot sooner then other riders so he is not getting the max from the rev range. Lower end power would suit him better then top end I think.

How serious is it to port and polish, could it be done yourself or is there strick dimensions to be followed when polishing. And what about the size of the carb is that important.

Thanks so far for all the advise if there is any secert tips you can pm me. Ha Ha
