Im about to finish bolting up this new blasters motor and had a question.

Im using the top end off my blaster that consists of a .050 over wiseco that had right about 4 hours on it before i decided to go BBK.

Since im essentially transfering the top end to this new motors lower end will i need to break it in?Im using the same rings.I didnt think so but just thought id ask.

i would hone it to provide crosshatches for the rings to seal,

and should be given the 3 -5 heat cycles, then retorque the head and base bolts, to "set" the gaskets

Cross hatches are very nice.I considered running a ball hone through it a few times to ensure its deglazed but you really think its necessary with the little time thats on it?

The reason for crosshatching is to make the rings seal in the cylinder. I you put used rings into a smooth walled cylinder, the rings may not meet the cylinder wall causing lower compression from blow by.

i believe he's saying he's putting a low hour, cylinder/piston/rings from another bike, already broken in, onto this bike

inspect it good, use new gaskets, leakdown test, heat cycles, retorque,
test compression and you should be good

A light dust over with a ball hone would not go astray.

Whenever I put a piston and rings in, whether new or used I always scuff the bore up some.

It pays to be on the safe side.

Thats exactly right bro!!!

Yea i knew the heat cycles and retorque were a given but the rings shouldnt need to reseat was my my dilemma.

And yea oem from top to bottom.
