I bought a 2000 Blaster off of a kid from Craigslist. He fully disclosed that the quad needed a header for it to run properly. My question to all of you is, would the header cause the quad to not start? It started when I was at his house looking at it before I bought it, and he kicked it and it fired right up. Now it wont start. Would this be due to the lack of back pressure on the engine?

YES. don't run that thing with no pipe. it will pull air from the exaust side and run really lean. it will burn that piston up quick like. get a pipe and work from there. there are always guys upgrading on here and getting rid of their old pipes for a good price.

I found a stock one on ebay that included the engine mount and I figured I do the heater hose to mend the header to the fmf powercore2 thats already on the bike. I also ordered a new gasket for the used header I ordered. Sound like a good plan?
