Quad suggestions for the wife?

Well the KFX700 maybe isnt the quad for her but she doesn't HAVE to have a total turd to not have to use a clutch. There are options out there that are fast/powerful/fun and not clutched...

If she's not looking for speed a honda 250EX is a hard one to ignore. It's a recon without racks... did someone say reliable?

Well my wife doesn't like clutches because of a DVX400 her cousin let her ride without showing her how to actually operate a clutch beforehand. He told her to rev it up and let out on the left handle. She hung on for deal life as it skidded across the yard on the grab bar before hitting a trashcan and flipping on its side. She was scared to death and won't go near a quad with a clutch. I've been on her to try the blaster but she still hasn't gotten on it.

She demanded an automatic quad so I have a Prairie 400 4x4 for her to ride. When we go down to busco next year she'll probably be riding the Prairie 400.

here is a picture of my recon.

i bought it new in 04 as a 3 year left over for dirt cheap and rode this thing so hard. i never had a problem with it. the only thing i did was change the airfilter, tires, and oil one time. not a single knock, noise or anything. i recently sold it for $1200 to help buy the polaris so they're definetly around for cheap used.

See if she'll go for this...
Environmentally friendly, & great exercise!
( if she's like mine, there will be no answer, just "the look" X( lol.)

Re: Bought a Honda trx 250ex

We spent some time looking around and decided on the Honda 250ex. I found a 2004 that's in good shape, and I took the wife out to the SoCal desert last weekend. She had a great time cruising around. Her confidence went way up after not much time at all and we had our first real cruise together. The 250ex made all the difference because it's quiet, smooth and easy to use....it's the perfect chick bike.

After a couple hours of riding I wanted to go out on my own for a rip session and I was proud that the wife still wanted to ride some more. And then I was most proud when I found her stuck from running into some scrub bushes!

On a side note:
The polaris we checked out was loud, bulky and squirley. I almost went with a recon, but there aren't many for sale as compared to the 250ex and I got a good deal on the one we bought. Also, I like the simplicity and easy access to the engine area and more on the trx.

Anyway, thanks to all for the feedback. You were a big help!

What is wrong with the woman in the US?
My wife wanted nothing but a blaster!!! I offered to buy here a utility but told to buy it for my self and then she will keep the blaster. So i bought here a 2005 blaster brand spanking new, and she loved it ever since

I agree my first quad was a blaster but after a couple of months with it I just could'nt keep up with my husband and he wanted to go fast so I got the rappy and now I keep up with no problem, she will get used to that 250 real quick and want something faster.

It's not about women in the US vs S. Africa. Just like men, some women get how to ride while others do not. My lady is a girlie girl who's not comfortable going fast. So a boggy quad works perfect for her. I would have loved if she liked the blaster like I do, but since she doesn't I had to go in another direction. Even S. Africans can understand that...right? :p

Now that she's happy and more comfortable....she'll be up for going out riding more often, which also allows us to be together out on the trail. Now isn't that niiiiiice!

At this time, my girl isn't interested in keeping up. She wants to ride at her own pace and not be afraid. What's important to her is a quiet easy to use quad.

Hopefully her confidence will continue to grow and eventually she'll want to move up. But if not, that's cool too. As long as she's happy, then I'm happy. Especially if it get us out playing in the dirt more often. :D

Well said! anytime you can do what you love with your wife then you win. I have found that it really helps my marriage. I never get the "you love your quad more than you love me" anymore lol. glad it worked out for you piezzi

hey man i started on a kawasaki mojave 250. I still had to learn to shift, but it was easy as pie. reverse was very easy to use, the 4 stroke stock setup was mildly quiet, provided decent power. An exhaust upgrade and that 250 woke up quite a bit.
Worked out well for me, another option for you to consider. I actually went back years later and bought my neighbors mojave, the guy i used to ride mine with. So for me to go buy another one should tell you i thought it reliable and easy enough to buy another one.

Also consider your wife's size, height has alot to do with comfort. My wife is 6'2" and doesn't feel comfortable on anything smaller than a bayou
