Hi guys I have a 03 blaster that does not run above idle, it acts like it is against a rev limiter. the short story is I got this from a guy that said it quit while riding in his yard and it had no spark now. I checked and it had spark, but the motor would kick back like the timing was off, so removed the flywheel and found there was no keyway in the crank for the flywheel. it was not sheared off it was just gone. put a new key and wham it starts and runs but wont rev up. I know the common thing is the parking brake switch but that didn't do it. I removed everything from the harness that i thought was not needed. the rear brake light, oil injection, brake switch for the front brake to activate the brake light, the rear footbrake switch for the rear brakelight, the oil injection light, ignition key, and the tors system. When i got done the headlight and off switch on the handle bars is all i wanted. but it wouldn't start. I would start and stall. then i found if you ground the yellow with black stripe wire it will fire up and run but runs like its against a rev limiter. from the reading I've done on this forum it seems that wire is the parking brake wire that should not be grounded cause if its grounded it causes the rev limiter problem. Also i did check the reeds and found them to be ok. they are carbon fiber reeds. this thing will start on the first kick everytime with the yellow/black wire grounded just won't rev. I am not sure where to go now and would appreciate any help
thanks george

When you removed the TORs, those were the yellow/black wires, they needed to be spliced together on each end where you took off. The parking brake ones can NOT be spliced together, that could cause problems.

Im saying this because someone else will soon

Also, welcome to blafter forum I:II:I

nobody has any input ???

The input has been said. You need to check the tors wires, parking brake, good grounds, make sure black/white is not going to ground. Then report back.More info will come as you troubleshoot and let is know what you may or may not have found.

so i have grounded the yellow and black from the cdi which takes care of the tors system. the green and yellow from the cdi is left open which from what I have seen in the wiring diagram is for the parking brake switch which I should leave open. the black and white from the cdi is not grounded as from the diagram when this is grounded it kills it. the green/white, white/red, black and red come straight from the stator to cdi. all unnecessary wiring I have removed as stated in initial post. it still fires right up first kick but will not rev up. any ideas please and thank you

if the black white was grounded it would not run , i stated it does run just won't rev. the tors, park brake and grounds have been checked. all grounds are good, park brake wire I left open. I did cut all wires not necessary to run as stated in original post. the one thing I learned was I needed to ground the yellow and black wire that I cut at the cdi which I did and still have the same problem.

Have u checked for proper operation of the carb? Is the slider moving up and down when u press the throttle? Did u remove the box on top of the carb or is it still attached? If its still there check to make sure u did what u need to do with the wires at the carb. After all that and if it still won't rev, disassemble the carb completely and clean it. There are videos on here for some good cleaning tips and also check the float level.
