Hi im assembling my engine in a few days, but the two big bolts that hold the primary drive on the crank and the bolt that holds the balancer gear.. In the service manuel it states use torque wrench and torque to xx specification.. but i want to know is it ok to tightn them with airpressure from a pro car shop, without "measuring" ? ? Can i trust that is at least the torque specified?

And should I use locktite on theese two particular bolts ?

if you dont have a way to hold every thing from moving or a torque wrench. then yes you could use an air gun. becarefull not to have it on to tight of a setting . you dont want to strip any thing out. i use an air gun all the time when working on mine. but thats me.

The problem is that i have a big torque wrench.. but i dont have a flywheel holder.. ind I really dont want to buy one as my local Yamaha $tealer wants 150$ ..

I think I will use locktite and airgun... But can a airgun make it TOO tight? BAD72SS: How the heck do I know whats a too tight setting or a too weak setting? Or do i just choose full power and only hold the "trigger" a few sec when it really tighnt? To be sure along with a good piece of locktite on the threads? ...

I made my own flywheel holder out of some stuff I had around the house. There not hard to make. Basically its just a long piece of metal with a couple holes in it to stick bolts through and into the 2 holes in the flywheel. They don't thread in, but they don't need to, all they do is stop it from turning. Another way is to rotate the crank till the piston is at BDC (bottom dead center) and then feed a small rope through the spark plug hole till you fill the cylinder with it, and that will prevent anything from turning. Then just pull the rope back out.

all you would have to do is blip the trigger and let it get tight and do it a couple more times and theat should be good

^^^thats how I put my flywheel on the first time. Notice I said the first time. I say that because I had to do it a second time, because it was not tight enough and it let the flywheel slip and shear the Woodruff key which led to a long push home
heres a pic of my flywheel holder

This one works real good!
Motion Pro Flywheel/Clutch Tool - DennisKirk.com

I would get a torque wrench!!!!, you can tear all kinds if sh*t up with an impact wrench!!!!!! you might just strip all the threads off or you might even snap the end of the shaft right off!!!!!
Don't know what kind of CHINEE POS from Harbor Freight you have but my 3/8" Ingersoll Rand impact is rated at ONLY 180ftlbs! my 1/2" is rated at 625ftlbs and my 1" gun turns out a measly 1650 ftlbs!!!I:I

OK! So i bought this:

BGsys.dk

It will fit the flywheel....which I can use to tightn the primary bolt and the flywheel....

BUT : one question .. Can i also use it to the clutch? I mean it will not fit the clutch as a holder but can i hold the flywheel and then tightn the clutch bolt? (80nm) ... Is it possible to do that? or do i need the specific tool to hold the clutch boss also?

Could be great if one guy could hold the flywheel while I could tigthn the clutchbolt on the other side.. .

Or would it put to much stress on the flywheel ?
