i have a 2001 blaster and im kinda new to this 2 stroke stuff. i am running the oil pump and i am running very lean. i was wondering how to unhook the pump or if i just drain the oil resivore and premix the gas if that will take care of the problem. right now the bike wont idle but it really pulls on the mid and top end. i dont no if i have more problems then the oil pump or not. any info would be greatly appreiciated thank you

warm up your bike, drain the oil, take the cover off, take the pump off, and take the gear out of the pump....thats the poor mans way...or you could by a oil injection blockoff kit...im sure someone on here makes them and will chime in and help you out....or you could take the pump off and make the blockoff kit yourself...if you do get or make a blockoff kit, make sure you put the little tab over the hole in the carb where the oil line went or youll run lean and blow it up.... id run 32:1 with synthetic oil also...hope this helped...

I'm not trying to talk you out of pump removal, but have you checked/cleaned your carb? Not idling or running lean at idle could be a plugged pilot jet. Take it out and spray some carb cleaner through it. It is a very tiny hole and plugs up easily when crap is in your bowl. While you have it out, spray through any passage you see. Carb cleaner should come out somewhere.

ok i found out the oil pump wasnt hooked up and it had a block off kit....so basically i was running strait gas. i no it isnt good but i still have alot of compression...i mixed the gas 32 to 1 and now it will only run at full throttle and it doesnt run very well at that....i moved the needle down one notch and it helped a little but i ran out of notches...i also messed around with the air screw and it didnt help out at all....can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction

i forgot to add in that when it runs at full throttle it smokes which it is supposed to untill it warms up but it is really doggy like it isnt getting enough fuel or something or it could be getting to much...i couldnt tell you...so please help

What mods to u have and what size is ur main. Also do u still have TORS hooked up. The air/fuel screw turn it in snug and back off 1.5 to 2 turns.

what is the TORS? and it is stock jetting so i think around 230 ur so but im not sure...it has been bored out .20 and thats about it i believe...i just tried playin around with it and i have the needle all the way to top notch and it seems like it is ritch...i have the air screw all the way out and it is still loading up and back fireing when it is running

the reeds were replaced on the last rebuild and i have about 25 to 30 hours on the rebuild....i let quad sit for about 3 years cause i didnt have time to ride it...the motor was seized so i took the top end off and cleaned it all up and back togather with the arrow on the piston to the front of the motor so i think that is all right and i did replace the gaskets to...the reads looked good yet and they werent broke or chipped...one question on the reads though are they supposed to have a little gap or are they supposed to be tight to the housing they sit in?...i wanna noe if the above diagnosticcs mean i have to re-jet or what i have to do....and what is the tors?

they have to be tight, no air gaps

the tors is the throttle over ride system, most people just get rid of it, tons of info if you search

Wow, How long did it run without oil? I don't think your problem is with the carb.

/\/\/\/\/\ exactly, how long was it run without oil, and we need compression test numbers before going any further, i'm guessin it wouldnt take very long to fry some rings running with no oil

after i ripped it appart the rings were good yet and i maybe have 20 min on the quad after that...i have just been running it to get the carb right...i will take it in to get the compression test and then get back but i dont think it is that...i have alot of compression but who knows i u guys might be right...it just dont make sense cause when i adjust the needle and the air screw on the carb it will run better...idk i am new to this stuff...i got alot to learn

True, if you still have a lot of resistance on the kicker, you might still have good compression. Seriously though, three years is a long time to have crappy gas gum up your carb. Have you looked in the float bowl yet? Checked the pilot?

i cleaned the carb out with carb cleaner and i blew it out with air...and when i put it away b4 the 3 years i ran it out of gas...there was probley a bit of condensation in the cylender that made it seize up
