hey guys i was wondering about the advance timing adjustment. i have a ricky stator and i have it only advanced by 2 degrees. i wanted to know with all my mods (in sig) how far you guys think i can go without any issues. i figured advancing 4 degrees isnt bad either but i just wanted peoples opinion. also my main question is what kind of power increase would i be looking at too at 4 degrees advanced? what kind of things should i look for when it comes to improvements. like powerband, bottom end power, top end power and so on. thanks a bunch.

Well first off, what change did you notice by advancing it 2 degrees? Advancing it 4 degrees shouldn't hurt it, so you can adjust it there and see how it feels and sounds. I personally wouldn't go past +4 as it becomes an unknown zone to me and people's heads vary in size, volume, shape, etc, so I can't really be "universal" with a suggestion. You have the benefit of an easily adjustable stator. What did you feel with the +2 increase?.....try +3 and +4 and see how it feels for you on each setting and watching out for pinging from the engine. Typically, you will see an increase at different locations since the the stator doesn't adjust to different RPM levels.....it always stays at a constant 16-17-18-etc degrees regardless of the RPM levels. You might see the power move a little bit, but you can play with it until you feel like it runs best to you. Just don't give yourself the placebo effect and think that more is always better. Be honest with yourself and evaluate the performance on a real basis. If it seemingly runs no better at +3 or +4, but better at +2 than stock, then go with +2. Kind of "duh", but people brainwash themselves with positive lookouts into thinking they are going faster when in fact they are going slower simply because they would LIKE to think what they did is them going faster. :D
