If your sitting still and shift up into 2nd you can feel it go into gear. Then if you sit for a few seconds and let the clutch out it pops out of gear. If you slip the clutch and keep pressure on it it will stay in gear. It also did it in 3rd when my son shifted up it popped right out. Only happens occationally. Took the cover off and all looks good and shifted threw the gears nice and smooth. I had the tranny apart not too long ago and all looked normal. This started a few rides after that. Any ideas...thanks

bent or worn shift fork. if everything else looks good in the trans, replace the forks and you should be good to go.

Most likely the problem ^^ but but before ya split the cases check the screw on the shift star (if it's not welded). If it comes loose the key/keyway can break and cause similar issues.

When you get the transmission out, check the dogs where the two gears engage. The male parts should have a nice sharp edge as well as the female. Any radiused edge can make this happen. KTM’s and YZ’s are notorious for this. I think I have a few transmissions if you need one.

Thanks I'll check. I have another parts motor, so I'll check them also. I'll get ahold of you if new gears are required.
