Polishing Questions?

Okay so I have some aluminum frame guards that I want to polish. I went to my local hardware store and got; 150, 220, 320, 400, 600, and 1500 grits. They are made for wetsanding, should I wetsand or just use them regularly?

I prefer to wet sand , but it's less messy for me to wet sand ! , Do some Research on it , and you can learn allot just from reading !

I wet sanded all the way to 600, how long should I do each grit for? I did it for like 5 min each?

EDIT , well how rough is the guards ? are they dented or were you just wanting a chrome like Finish

Im polishing aluminum frame guards, there pretty small, only doing to top of them. I went to 600 and it looks about the same but smoother? what is a good grit to end on?

I would get some Higher grit paper , some 2000 does real good before polish !

Before polish? I dont have a wheel or anything. I was thinking go to 2500 and then mothers and a rag

I polish all by hand ! , I use Mequairs Mag & Aluminum polish , says Hot rims on it , its a paste that they no longer sell , they sell a liquid now , going all the way to 2500 should be good

Okay 600 looks kinda dull ): I hope it polishes up like chrome!
