Hi I'm new hear and need some help,I just got my therd blaster and it has a boat load of stuff on it,well to get down to business it came with a keihin pwk ysn 30 carb witch looks definitely real,the problem I have is it will not idel at all and some times at the top end it sputers a bit now I'll tell you what it has so you know,it has that carb v-force reed valves bulls eye intake vito's 240 big bore and a full Duncan fat boy exhaust system that's about it oh and a k&n clamp on filter as well also I looked at the jets and they do not have numbers on them so I'm kinda in the dark laughs,but thanks for any help guys :)
 
have you adjusted the air screw and idle screw? have you cleaned the carb well? how about cleaning the air filter and new plug? you might invest in some jets so you know what your working with. i suggest factory keihin jets from carbpartswarhouse or jetsrus. Im sure if you give them a call they can help you out with sizes. It wouldnt hurt to get various sizes to get it dialed in properly. Im going to guess and say you would need pilots aroud 48 and mains around 150.
 
Thanks for the info and help bud I'll give the jets a go,also yes the filter and carb are clean and it also has a new plug,and yeah I've tried to adjust the air screw and idel screw but got nowhere,I screwed it all the way in and still no idel I mean the blasters fast as heck it just needs some carb work,I got this blaster and a parts blaster for only 900 from a friend,I'll try and get some pics of the carb just to see what you guys think,I think it's the real deal but who am I laughs,but you just never know when I google keihine pwk ysn 30 I can't seem to find nothing ya know,I'll try and get some pics so at least I can know if it's real and if it can even handle a 240 bore,again thanks for your time :)
 
Hmmm little bit of a problem,the websites you gave me helped alot but they don't have parts for a keihin pwk ysn 30,the jets for the pwk's look like they'll work but I also need the gasket for the jet tower if that's what it's called,it's the thing that the jets screw into that whole piece un bolts and has a gasket under it it's held on with two phillips head screws,is that common for these carbs? also why does it have ysn on it is that weird or normal? :)
 
sounds like jetting issues OR the air filter. could be that u are running lean. careful dude u could fry ur top end. when i 1st bought my bike the guy had the airfilter sleeve over the k&n filter im thinkin its part of the filter.it was bogging when i try rip it up then i removed it it was perfect. if u want jets try these guys. theyre cheaper than jetsrus and theyre OEM jets too. they may have have the jets u need. check their store or message them. Thanks I'll give them a try,and no it's not the filter I check,it's really not all that bad it runs ok but it's just some times it acts up it doesn't really bog it sputters in about therd gear at ne'er the shift point,I mean it just won't idel at all I've never had a carb that I couldn't get to idel,I do know the slide cap needs a new gasket and I think the motor needs a head gasket because were the head meets the jug in-between it looks alittle dirty,I'm going to get you guys some pictures because I would like to know what exactly I got as far as carbs go ya know,this is my third blaster and I would like to make it rite,again thanks for all your help guys.
 
that link wont help you as you have an aftermarket keihin carb. the pwk jets will work. sounds like you need larger jets in it, i would advise against riding on it in that condition as you will def fry your topend... standing by for pics!!
 
has it been leakdown tested, the intake area is a common place for leaks with aftermarket intakes, and a blown head gasket isnt good news either, get her sealed up and leak tested or you'll be askin piston questions next
 
kk thanks for the info bud,the head gasket may not be leaking I just think it is because in between the jug and the head has some sticky stuff on it,but when I looked closer it looks like it's just a little bit of a leaky header,and the intake gaskets are definitely good,I'm going to get you guys some pictures today,I'll show ya the carb and head,thanks for all the help guys :)
 
Getting a leak tester is something I didn't do. (On a budget) So what I did was run the motor, get a spray bottle with soapy water and spray the all gasket area. I mean its not a real great method but I think it should work. If there's a leak u'll see bubbles. There's ur spot then order that gasket. Most guys would recommend the leak down test. A guy here makes them and sells them. Holeshotsman I think. From what I heard its pretty good.
 
ok guys I've got more info,I got two carbs one that's the keihin and the stock,the stock one has a main jet of 340 and a pilot of 32.5 so I now know that it's jeted out for the 240 bore oh it also has the adjustable needle and yes this carb runs good and idels,now the keihin has a main of 155 and a pilot of 53 seems weird ya know,also surfrjag I've been wanting to go ride there but have only been there once,this summer im'a try and hit um up,oh yeah stay tuned for those pic's guys I gotta find that darn camera cable that hooks up to my computer laughs,if I can't find it ill have to take some pics with my I-pod also surfrjag if you head my way maybe we'll hook up and go riding my I have 3 brothers one has an cr85r bored to a 95cc and one has a rm85 big wheel and the other is looking to get a Suzuki Z400 witch I hope he gets,but I'm trying to get him to get a banshee laughs,but again thanks for all the help guys :)
 
keihen jets sizes usually run half of what the makuni's do so that sounds close anyway... I know at some point i will get up that way, my parents have a place in edinberg right on the river about 5 mins from that place. ill pm you sometime when i get that way.
 
cool buddy sounds good,I'm originally from maryland I lived in Charles county,we moved up here for some more riding land ya know,so far so good I sold my other blasters when we moved and only kept my 400EX but then I got sick of it laughs,so I went out and got what I really liked and that was a blaster I know them pretty well there pretty reliable as long as you do all the rite things to them,but ya if you head my way for sure buddy hell if I head your way I'll pm you I'm always in maryland to go to buds creek for the races,and again thanks for all the help guys I hope this yammy go's good :)
 
ok guys,I'm about to buy some jets,the carb is a keihin pwk ysn 30 the jets it has now are-main:155-pilot:53 now the problem is that it will not idol and sputters at high rev,the stock carb I have works pretty good and the it's jeted for the 240 bore hears the jetting-main:340-pilot:32.5 now that you guys have that info please let me know what to get,also is the keihin carb that I have good for my set up I have?
