i just bought a new toomey b1 kit for my blaster installed everything and i rode it about a half mile up my road and it starting boggging down, i was in 4th dropped down to 3rd and finally got to 2nd and then it picked right up like a badass power band, then it just quit. i checked the compression seems to be ok. what could be the problem? could the main jet they gave me in the kit be too much? please help

what does that mean?, and when it quit i looked down at the new exhaust and right by the flange where the pipe connects was red hot, and i tried to pop start it really quick and it kinda started but i didnt want to run it for long

no phargle i just dropped the jet in, put the carb back in and took it up the road. but how would i have blown the top end if i still have good compression? and when i pulled the spark plug it was like pure black

A blown top end can reseal its self if you keep the bike going. This happened to me. The guy I bought my blaster from rebuilt the top end and accidently dropped a piece of a washer next to the crank under the piston. The washer ended up wedged between the piston and cylinder wall. I lost power and compression but was able to drive it back home. It was so hot it resealed its self to give it just enough compression to run. I had to get the cylinder bored over which I didnt mind, gave me a little more power. Run a actual compression tester on it before taking the top end off. If compression has dropped any rebuild. Good Luck!

Plus, you say you dropped in the new jet. I believe the Toomey kit also has a needle adjustment they recommend. Did you do that? Could you have gone the wrong way with it?

Hard to understand how the jet Toomey supplies could lean you out though. It should have been a 310. Pretty large.

the jet is a 310, i used a compression tester with a guage, but i forget what the compression was but i know it wasnt bad. could the jet be too large and it was just dropping raw fuel into the motor which would have caused it to get that sudden increase in power and make the pioe glow? and i didnt have to adjust the needle because toomey said that on a 2003 and up blaster it is already positioned where they say to put it

Bummer.. Sorry to hear that.. When I got an FMF jet kit, for an FMF pipe, the main jets were so lean, that it didnt even run well at part throttle.. I think EPA is pushing for leaner mixtures the same way they are pushing thinner oils through car mechanics when you get an oil change..

The others are probably right.. Top end it seems.. Aluminium melts long before steel turns red, so, at least the exhaust side of your piston reached this temperature..

Grab a gasket kit for 20$ off ebay, pop the head off.. See what it looks like...

If you need a new top end, you will use the new gaskets anyway..

well guys my dad bought me a spark plug i just threw it in and it started right up on aboutnthe 4th kick, i had to give it a little gas without the choke on. i shut it off, let it sit and then pulled the choke on and it idled perfectly, and when i let the choke in it wanted to stall( nevers idles without choke on unless i have ran it for a while) then i just gave it some gas and it ran right. I dont think its blown up, but i think i am going to take it to the semi local atv shop and have them tune the carb and everything to get it running perfect. Thanks for all the help!!!!

one of the workers from the atv shop where my dad got the spark plug from said that he doesnt think i am getting enough gas and i should go with a bigger jet, is he right, and what jets should i get? i will probably just have the atv shop where i take it to test them anyway so what ones should i get?
