Hi all.
I have a tuned and modded blaster.. takes many rpm´s ! :) feels very powerfull!

But i think it has a way to "light" gearing... it need to be more heavy.. longer gears..

What is the recommended gearing for a more heavy one?

How many tooth is stock rear and front sprocket?

Where can i buy "special" rear sprockets with fewer teeth.. ?

most are running 14/40, also depends on your tire size.
stock is 13/40. i think
more teeth on front = more top speed
less teeth on the rear = more top speed
you can get sprockets on ebay, vito's, rockymountainatv..ect..

Hey guys thanks for reply.

I thought that it was 14t/40t stock ?

I have considered a 15t/38t!!! That seems to be the most heavy gear setup.

I think that will kick ass... because as it is for now the 1st and 2nd gear are WAY to low....

BTW: Only Vito´s seems to have below 40t ... (38,39) .. RockyMountain only have 40 and up but in 5 diff. brands..

Also only Vito have 15t front...

OR: Maybe I should start with 14/38

Ok i dident know that? .. then i´ll guess I will try 14t front before anything else..

And a 14t sprocket is available at a Yamaha Dealer right? They have both 13 and 14t ?

Or do they only have 13t ? so i have to get it aftermarket ?

IDK call them. If not millions of other places have those size sprockets.

How wold a 12/38 be ...quick and ok top speed with short gears?
Weird combo. I would be close to a 13/40- jes cost alot more haha

what is a 12 used for anyway...
I can't see too many peeps using a 12. It's kinda extreme for a front size. Maybe for turning mud tires in some deep mud.

True.
Member Strokedtater runs that exact gears ratio in his drag blaster,
so it can be done but will take some power to do it!

actually his is 15 /33 as he uses a honda rear end on his blaster to do this
and there is minor clearance mods to accept the 15 front too, his will break well over 80 mph within 500 feet ,but as mentioned it will probably take atleast 50 rwhp to efficently pull 15/33 gearing

lassek heres how you figure your gearing.. it's done in drive ratios.. the old 1 on front = 3 on back rule of thumb works BUT.. alot of time guys start cramming on huge sprockets they don't need.. so lets take stock for example.. 13/40.. you take the driven sprocket (rear) dived by the drive sprocket (front) so 40 divided by 13 is 3.07:1 ratio. this means the front sprocket makes 3.07 revolutions to every 1 revolution of the rear gear.. if you want more top speed you'll want to lower this ratio.. like for example 14/40 has a drive ratio of 2.85. your gearing will depend on what mods you have.. long gearing like say a 15/38 will require some added HP from a stock quad.. just remember driven divided by drive.. and the lower the ratio more top end.. higher the ratio more acceleration
