Ok I know people have probably asked this serveral times, but I have a 03 blaster and pretty sure it has piston slap. So my question is what would be the best solution to fix it, I am going to take it to a machine shop, but I guess the main thing is what parts would i need to buy?

well you can hvae the cylinder bored, but you need a bigger piston, stock is 66mm so depending how bad the slap is you need to go oversized, id probably go to 66.5, take the piston and the cylinder to a machine shop and get them to bore it to a clearance of about 0.07mm clearance, im talikng off the cuff with that figure but it is CRITICAL! i cant quite recall the correct clearance, maybe some chime in could varify.

when are you hearing this "slap" ?????
at idle or when riding ????
can you get us a video ????
i believe we like that piston to cylinder clearance to be more like .003/.004

make sure the shop you take it too is a very reputable one, alot of us have had bunk jobs from the local "machine shop" and dealers themselves

agree. do ur homework and know the answered to your questions before you question your machine shop. .003-.004 is right. this is one question i would ask and see what there answer is.

or you could just send it to ken and be sure it is done to perfection !!!!!!!!

I'm hearing not so much when I first start it but after it gets warmed up. Its a loud ticking noise. It is worse at idle got a video of it just trying to transfer it from the phone right now. Any input would help when I get it posted.

yep, that sounds bad, sumthins bangin around in there, i'd pull the exhaust and look into the port to see if there is scratches on the piston, and also pull and check the stator and clutch side cases before jumping to conclusions, maybe sumthin in there came loose ????
and a compression check should tell ya whats up in the cylinder, anything near or below 100psi is ready for a rebuild, should be at least above 110, 120-130 being ideal
just my .02 cents
