What's up with the intake-side cut-aways at the bottom of the Blaster's piston skirt? The cut-away is much narrower than the intake port windows, so what's it for?

mmm well the port windows only match up with the piston windows for a brief split second every cycle, the rest of the time they are either half open or half blocked as the piston moves up and down. However, at that millisecond that they do align, you are correct, the piston window is smaller and this will cause air flow disturbances, if you busy with porting or anything, aling the piston and ports and mark the outline of the ports on the piston with a scribe or pencil then wrap up the piston in a rag and use some small files and make the holes bigger, just be careful!
