hi guys im new here and just picked up a 2001 blaster.ok got a few questions.ok here it is ,basicly stock blaster stock bore stock carb stock pipe with pro circut silencer.also has stock reeds with reed spacer, im also running with airbox lid off this is the way i got it. now never ran it but piston looks like it ran lean and got deterated .whats the first thing i should do to fix this problem? any help will help me out. should i do a full rebuild like all seals? lowend bearings sound and feel good sorry for rambleing on lol but any help i can get is the keyI:I

the reason the piston is chewed up is becuase it is running lean since the air box is off i would jet it and do a airleak test to make sure no other leaks.

stock jetting in carb im thinking its a crank seal under fly wheel so i should run air box lidand or rejet carb ? what jets should i run

A pic of the piston would help us help you. I presume you have head off? Can't do leak down now to check other areas, tho might be able to throw head back on and get it to seal good enough to check for other leaks, intake/base/seals/case.

you can run the airbox lid off and you will have more power, but you need to rejet it for this increased air. Stock jetting is a 230 main and most say 250 for the lid off setup. Plug chop will tell the truth.

how do u put pics up? i can tell u this it ran lean on exhaust side only looks melted belive me guys i wish i could just get a new engine lol

my pics wont load up on this sight why i dont know but ill figure it out keeps saying file failed ?????? any clue lol

No I mean I not refreshed my page and replied with 'use tinypic to upload' but you had already done it

no problem man sorry just aggrivated with the whole thing ,so whats going on with it is it a very lean condstion? should i redo all seals in the engine plus re jet the carb to a bigger main jet .running stock jets with stock pipe with no airlid premix to 32;1

I would take a couple of close up pics, post them up then wait for some others to chime in when they get online. Has it marked the bore? If it is due to running lean it could be because you have a airleak
