Hey all. I need to reroute my pipe to clear the frame and other things on the kart. Can I cut, clock, and reweld the pipe as long as I dont change its length or overall volume? I know its tough to say without seeing it, so any reasonable guesses are appreciated. Is it really easy to completely trash the needed flow/resonant characteristics of the chamber, or do I have a bit of tweaking room?

On that note, can I shorten the tube between the pipe and silencer? Right now it is way long and I need to shorten it so I can mount the silencer to the frame for support.

It is a DG pipe BTW.

TIA for any help. I:I

Chamber size, length and taper angles are what gives it most of it's characteristics. Clocking the pipe wont affect any of this, it will still have about the same characteristics. Shortening your silencer tube will have no effect.

i thought that having a short silencer like fmf's "shorty" gives it acc...cuz on there dirt bike gives it more acc...thats the decription that it gave on it...

Im not sure, but it appears that my silencer is pretty much gutted. I doubt it is going to do much silencing. I guess I need to search and figure out if having a hollowed out silencer will hurt anything besides my ears.

well id say if your modifying a dg i wouldnt worry about it hurting perfrmance dg is pretty much like a stocker so theres low gains anyways
...on a 2stroke the pipe does half the work ,everything matters some details more than others but it will change the acoustic wave in some way,and yes hollowing out a silencer is bad and always a power lose

Placing additional bends in it would have some large effects on the power characteristics, but the effects of simply clocking the existing bends will be minimal if even noticeable at all. I agree that the hollowed silencer will hurt power...more than you'd think.
