picked up my new blaster!!

so went and bought a 03 blaster well from what i was told, seems like the 06, bought it this evening, brilliant quad only thing is there seems to be a bit of piston slap but maybe its just the way it is im not sure but my last blaster didnt make too much of a noise, its driving grand 100% though, another thing is it does seem a wee bit boggy it has a dmc alien pipe and i think maybe the guy didnt jet it im gonna have to check the carb later to see what size the jet is.

Ya, check your jetting and post what you find

I'd check the engine a little closer too. A piston, + maybe bore is way cheaper than extra parts. Do a comp test. If you tear it down do a leakdown first.

yeah there the old 5" stud spacers of my last blaster, what ya mean the vin ran ? lol

i eliminated the tors last night and then was gonna take the carb off but cant get the tors system cap to unscrew off the carb, its moving right and left a wee tiny bit so i dont think its stuck on there seems like somethings stopping it ?

There's a bolt on clip that locks the cap on. I put this way, there should be. Lol.

I've got a bit of a problem, took the tors off lastnight followed the instructions on one of the threads on here, when I started it up it reved grand but when I took the carb off and put it back on it won't rev

guys i have one more question, at first when i start the quad up it is crazy smokey, in about 5 seconds my garage is smoked out, nearly like pure white cloud smoke coming out the back but then when it warms up its okay and barely has any smoke atall, but its still the tank of gas that the guy put in it before i bought it off him, he said he put a shot of 2 stroke to 5 litres of petrol what ever the shot is, when its nearly low am gonna mix up the good 2 stroke i have to 32;1 and see if its smokey then, i think he could have put far too much in it.

If you are unsure of the mix ratio just drain it. Pull the fuel line off of the carb and open the petcock to reserve. Does the smoke stink really bad?

If it's not the "normal 2 stroke smell" then it might be gear oil. Has it passed a leak test?

Same thing happend when i got my 1991 blaster, the guy was running a crazy amount of oil in it and it smoked out my whole shed, drained it and ran a 32-1, and cleaned the carb for safe measure and it ran perfect. Good luck!

Drain all the gas out and refill with 32:1 or 25:1 depending on how fussy you are about engine life.

Leak testing will tell you is a crank seal is at fault, stinky white smoke is a dead giveaway for a gearbox side crank seal.

You may need to rejet if you change the oil ratio.

A plug chop would be a great idea after you change the oil ratio.

yeah but when it warms up it runs great, i always ran 32;1 on my last blaster and it ran great so ill drain the petrol out and put in 32;1.

another thing aswell when i take off the quad can run itself without any throttle and the air screw is screwed in the full way and if i put it out to a turn and a half it goes crazy, and i cant get into the carb as the top is stuck some how, gonna have to get it off somehow tonight, any ideas on what i could use ?.
