Picked up a 2002 Blaster

Hey guys!

Over the weekend I picked up a 2002 Blaster. It's in nice condition and is all complete less the rear light, grab bar and skid plate that goes under the rear rotor / sprocket.
The guy told me it has a 2005 Blaster motor and trans but the case is cracked and leaking oil near the sprocket. It goes into gear but the kick starter dont go down.
I bought it to flip it and have a guy on the hook wanting to trade a 5'x8' trailer thats damn near new with a title.

But I'm thinking about fixing it before I unload it to get more.
Are the newer engines / transmissons the same as the 88 -02?
How can I even tell if it is an 05 motor compared to a 02 motor?
Does it sound like it is it worth splitting and repairing or just swap out with a new bottom end and trans?

Not bad for $300. Whats up with the exhaust is it not bolted in the back?

I'm going to look at a trans this afternoon and most likely fix it then sell it.
Yeah the exhaust is hanging. I will give it a once over and tidy up loose ends like that.

The trans didnt come thru so i just sold the Blaster for what I paid for it, $300.
But at least I was able to swap out the gas tank cover, left front fender, seat, and take the handlebar pad for my missing and beat up sh*t.
