Performance Mod questions

I'm not expecting to keep up with him lol, just want to be a little closer so when we go in the corners i'm a little closer lol. also the pipe has to be around 96 db's i would just buy the toomey kit and reeds but it will be too loud and the DNR are bad and i will have to take it off right away anyway lol

you can always buy a spark arrestor that will shut that exhuast up lol

ok, this is getting out of hand. for 400 bucks you are limited. some of the mods mentioned you wont be able to do on 400 bucks unless you get killer deals on ebay or something. any pipe you get will be better than stock. better flow, lighter, etc. toomeys and shearers are good pipes, problem is they are loud. any aftermarket pipe is gonna be louder than stock. and 96db is not that loud. sometimes if you keep the silencer packing good, it will stay quiet.

i say for 400 bucks, start with exhaust (find a used pipe you like.) reeds (dual stage boyesens). thats a good start. see how much cash you have left. 14 tooth front sprocket is another good mod. advanced timing is another

most likley you wont find a +3 stroker crank, or get porting and other mods for 400 bucks. start small and work your way up. bolt ons are great and cheap ways to make power. but make sure your parts will work together.

btw, a sparky doesnt really quiet the exhauist much, dont believe that. all it is, is a can with a screen inside to keep any flames from exiting. it arrests sparks, not sound. it may have some packing, but i doubt it. if it does muffle any sound, its not much.

do some research beofer buying pipes. thats where a lot of power will come from in your case

also, that 660r will always pull from you in straights. they handle like crap, so the turns they fail. but going straight, tehy build more power than a stock stroke, stock port blaster can make. there are ways to catch him, but if you can get around him in turns there are ways being a better rider can keep him behind you. hahaha good luck hope i was some help

a 34 pwk would be best but a pj 34mm or even a 30 oko.. whatever

they make 33mm pwk and 35mm pwk.. but dont; make a 34m pwk.. if you;ve measures a pwk series carb out at 34mm it;s definatley a 33mm.. carbs are taper bored and at the end you are meaureing it;s tapering out.

here my advice to you.. and i'm sure others will agree.. when your buying parts now youi need to also look into what you'll be wanting in the future for example.. pipe choice now may effect you later on down the road.. and when you start getting into more mods later on the pipe may be your weak point.. so you need to assess exactly what you want for an end result.. or whats going to keep you happy until you decide to move to another machine.. there are alot of parts that can be bought on a budget that will help out.. for example.. when lookign for carbs.. a 34mm PJ series kiehn is a great carb and can be had for little $$.. so skip the more expensive PWK series carb and lean toward the PJ series.. they can be bought sometimes on ebay for $35.. they are the std. carb on 250r's from 86-89.. so they are prevalent. as for a pipe.. i'd skip the fmf.. the pro circuit i don't have any experiance with.. i do have experiance with teh shearer. it's a good pipe BUT.. probaly gonna be too loud for ya.. i'm not sure of the actual Db numbers though so i could be wrong. porting is always a good mod. but liek rockstar said you only have $400.. so you need to spend wisely..
