my buddy just gave me a 95 blaster that had been sitting under a tarp in his yard for like 2 years or something. i took the head off last night cause he said the rings were fried. come to find out there is a huge piece of the piston gone and the crankcase is filled with peanut butter. the gas tank has a couple holes in it so i guess he was probably trying to crank it with water in the gas tank. what i was wondering though is, do you think its worth it to overhaul the motor or just get a new one?

i'd, say theres prolly rust built up on all the bearings and crank, so it's gonna need new everything, but unless you find a freshly, completely overhauled motor for sale, just rebuild your own, if loot allows, then you'll know what ya have

ok its dirty little secret time... when i got my first motor it was full of water and had been for a while. i got it home took the top end off and filled it with oil and everytime i was in my garage i would spin it over a few times and after doing that for a few weeks while i did other things to it i dumped the oil out and it started right up and lasted a entire season and was still going strong when i took it apart. of course that was when it was bone stock and mabey i just got lucky lol

yeah i was just thinkin of just draining it and doing an engine flush when i go back together. where is a good gasket and oil seal kit i can get?

Not real peanut butter.

It's emulsified oil, it looks and has about the consistancy of peanut butter. Obviously none of you guys have ever drowned out a 4 stroke... when you whip water into oil it turns into what looks like peanut butter or if there is more water than oil, it looks like milk.

I'd pull it all apart and see how much actual damage there is before making a call on whether to purchase a new engine or not.
